1. The description

A law firm in manchester experienced a sudden increase in demand following a period of successful cases. In addition to an increase in the volume of work the staff experienced an increase in the severity and disturbing nature of the cases. In response to this, the law firm requested the assistance of an occupational health service to ensure staff had sound psychological health and could maintain resilience to stress.

2. The intervention

Following a consultation the occupational health service organised a number of psychological sessions to support employees who were having difficulty with the demands being placed on the organisation. This was done by via validated screening tests and one to one interviews to subjectively assess current and new employees mental health and wellbeing.

3. The results

The psychologists who provided the interventions provided recommendations as to which employees would benefit from additional support whilst working the high severity cases at the law firm. The psychologist also integrated a support system within the workplace to ensure all staff could receive the relevant support and guidance as required when working on severe cases.
